What is this??

My son walked to the bottom of Ellison st, then along the riverside towards Prince Consort rd. He took a photo of something on the riverside that looks like a pipe, with stakes into the ground either side of it probably to prevent it being washed away. What is it?

it's very stable down there, it was netted up years ago. used to walk along there every day council must have more money to waste. unless it's a grant from somewhere?

As Peter said for helping to regenerate the salt Marsh catches sediment which will rewild the banks with plants, which will attract wildlife 🌟

It looks like a means of reducing the effect of the wash from vessels on the river or just the tidal flow. That’s why this staked down. However it’s rather flimsy for that.
