Sorry about delay in answering Tom, but been away. I,ve been or was a magpie supporter all my life but that was when we had Geordies playing for us. Too old to worry about them now. I am in WA a place called Mandurah [ u is silent] and we have had 3 heat waves this year, totally opposite to the eastern states. Even today it is 30 deg; cel; and we are well into Autumn.

Madurai, what a beautiful place. Visited there a few times when visiting the Wilkie's in Perth in the 90's and early 2000's.

Gi-DAY. BILL nice of you to reply to my post 30 degrees is hot cobbler. In 1961 I sailed on the good ship CANBERRA as a 10 pound POM to Aussie my first taste of really hot weather in Aussie was when we docked at Fremantle l never saw PERTH then on to Sydney via MELBOURNE.I lived in NSW for most of the sixties.in eastern suberbs BONDI JUNCTION mainly. Where it is a wee bit cooler. BILL It sounds as if you have been down under for some years and. You more than likely follow the black and whites,l know in my time all those years ago l used to look forward to match of the day on tele. I think it was Kenneth Whilthome who did the commentry do they still do it.? In the early sixties l played football for Corinthians in the Sydney division l think l got a tenner old money then before the Doller taking over.I liked my cricket have been back to Sydney cricket ground for the ASHES at Christmas time in 2013/14. And 2017/18 England are there this year for the ASHES. Series l used to go and meet up with the BARMY. ARMY in Sydney not so this year for different reasons I'm afraid..It dose not look good for Newcastle Bill they might be for the drop l think they will be playing the MACKEMS and the BOROUGH next season if you still get match of the day down under l can not see them showing the Championship games. it's nice to here from you I don't know if you are a Hebburn lad or not this board will always keep you in touch from over the pond. Cheers many thanks and take care.

I am a Hebburn lad born in back Rose st around from Claps my dads local. Moved to 12 Witty Ave and next door was Tom Loadman. Went to the catholic school. Married a S Shields lass and came to Oz in Feb; 1981. It was snowing when we left London and 41deg; cel; when we got to Melbourne. I thought I had caught a disease. Retired when I was 60. I look at the board first thing every morning.
