You are correct, politicians are all in it for themselves nowadays, no money for pay increases for anyone other than politicians and their lackeys. Houses are needed and at an affordable rate, brownfield sites are available and should be used equally with greenfield sites, but housebuilding should come with facilities such as schools, medical practises, retail etc, too often this never happens. Local authorities or the arms length organisations they had to set up to run their housing stock should be allowed and encouraged along with housing associations to build new properties or compulsory purchase properties that are literally abandoned and there are thousands of such properties, but the government has cut the available finance per property by over a third, it makes it increasingly difficult to build in the conventional way. The modular, energy efficient properties seem the way to keep the prices down as the more that are are made the more the price will reduce hence they will become more affordable and can be ready to inhabit in a much shorter timescale than the conventional house build. We will have to wait and see. |
