As it happens JRM is quite friendly with Angela Rayner, I don’t think he is a snob at all, if you have ever seen him on Question Time, that was in days when it was a programme worth watching, he always came across as quite a nice man, so no I don’t think it is him at all.

I agree with you Liz, JRM. When I used to watch Question Time he was good with answers never unpleasant. I did enjoy David Dimbleby sarcastic telling the audience JRM he was an Eton , boy, he came straight back with of course you will remember David I was in the same year as your son. That got applause from the audience.

It appears in January, speaking at a comedy event she was joking about her being compared to Sharon Stone with comedian Matt Forde. I do wonder what the truth is, but today in Parliament she was wearing trousers!

2 months ago, Angela Rayner joked to other MPs about the idea that she could put off the Prime Minister by flashing her legs, according to two people who witnessed the conversation in Parliament.

Two Conservative MPs have given the Telegraph their account of what happened when the deputy Labour leader was alleged to have made the remarks on the House of Commons terrace.

The eyewitnesses said they heard Ms Rayner joking about the suggestion that she was crossing and uncrossing her legs on the front bench.

One Conservative MP said that Ms Rayner “was laughing” about the insinuation that she “could put Boris off by giving him a flash”. A second MP also said Ms Rayner joked about the topic.

The conversation was said to have taken place around two months ago in an area of Parliament's terrace that overlooks the River Thames behind Strangers’ Bar where MPs drink and socialise.

There were claims that Ms Rayner was smoking during the conversation, which was said to be light-hearted and genial. Neither MP said there was an explicit reference to the 1992 erotic thriller Basic Instinct.
‘Mortifying and deeply hurtful’

A Labour party spokesman declined to comment on the conversation but pointed to Ms Angela Rayner’s comments on Twitter.

She said on Wednesday: “As women, we sometimes try to brush aside the sexism we face, but that doesn’t make it ok.”

Ms Rayner said that any implication that she “somehow enjoy[s] being subjected to sexist slurs” is untrue, adding: “They are mortifying and deeply hurtful. ‘She loves it really’ is a typical excuse so many women are familiar with.

“But it can’t be women’s responsibility to call it out every time. I don’t need anyone to explain sexism to me - I experience it every day.”

In January, Ms Rayner volunteered the fact that her appearance at Prime Minister's Questions had drawn comparisons with the Sharon Stone character in the 1992 thriller.

She told the comedian Matt Forde’s Political Party podcast: “Every time I do a PMQs somebody has an opinion on what I wear. Did you see the meme about Sharon Stone like I was doing it at PMQs? I was mortified.”

The accounts of what was said on the Commons terrace earlier this year shed light on the event that led to a Mail on Sunday story which prompted a fierce backlash this week.

The article contained remarks from an anonymous Tory MP about Ms Rayner that the Commons Speaker said were “offensive and demeaning”.

It was based on comments from a Conservative parliamentarian, who said that Ms Rayner had tried to put Boris Johnson “off his stride” by crossing and uncrossing her legs on the Labour front bench during Prime Minister’s Questions.

The news story, which likened the claims to a scene from Basic Instinct, also contained remarks that Ms Rayner “knows she can’t compete with Boris’ Oxford Union debating training, but she has other skills which he lacks”.

I am sorry but Boris has no debating skills, he proved that when he backed out of a televised debate a couple of years back. The new scandal about watching porn could be nipped in the bud very easily do not allow phones in the chamber. Anywhere else you would be out on your ear for this.

Well Mac I must have just been quoting the civil servants in London. The newspaper said 90,000. I was once a civil servant, but, as it was a separate government authority I foolishly never thought about it.

Sorry Brian, I must disagree, I have read when Boris was at Oxford he was brilliant at debating. Non better. He puts on this act as a bumbling fool, but he is just the opposite. A very clever man. There is an article in the Guardian about his debating skills, at Oxford.

Think of all the workers in this country that had to serve 5 year apprenticeships, or go to College to get qualifications for their work and she is 2nd in command in her party with no qualifications.I cant believe she is so high up and could be their next Leader.

I suppose you could say that I am a Tory.

That could be true to some degree.

When working in Hebburn Palmers I was sick of the men being called out on strike for no good reason that I could see.

In most cases the strikes just lost the men money.

So I got out of there and never had anything to do with unions after that.

Both my father and grandfather were shop stewards at sometime in their working life. One in Leslie’s and the other in Reyrolle’s. So to some extent I know about Union life.

Needless to say they both gave up being shop stewards because the rabble rousers led the men astray.

There are a lot of good Labour people about but the chumps tend to mess things up. There are some classic examples of that.

Every person is a capitalist it just depends how much.

I look out for me and mine then friends etc. Plus those in trouble if I can.

A person with a lot of money which is looked down on in certain quarters. Their money is invested in companies, stocks and shares etc. That money then goes to finance say, companies to expand.

Money in the. End is of no use unless it’s working. No point in burying it in the garden as it will loose it’s value.

If I came into a lot of money I would try to put it to a good use and more than likely set up a company doing XYZ.

But I’m too old now so I would set up a trust for my family to run. My daughter and son in law are very good at running businesses, they have 3 that I know of.

They have just finished a building project to provide low price accommodation for young people wishing to leave home or move to Harrogate. However they have to be budding business or work inclined and wishing to expand their horizons. This is all to benefit Harrogate and surrounding areas. Business creates business and by creating businesses gives employment..

I have no idea as to the political persuasion they are, they are just too busy.

No people on housing benefit allowed in it, they been there and got hurt. One person stripped out the property while his flat ate was away on. Holiday for 2 weeks bit of a shock when he arrive back.

Today I have no idea what any of the political parties stand for. the opposition parties have lot their way. The Scots lot Gawd!

It's always disappointing when discussion/debate turns to abuse.
Retaining a belief at all costs was once believed to be laudable but in truth, it often turned out to be a refusal to accept a new reality.
I wonder how many socialists know that the Jarrow Crusade was given support on the journey by local Labour AND Conservative Associations and the march committee sent ahead of the march as advance agents the two political agents for the division; one Labour and one Conservative.
The hierarchy of the Labour Party and the TUC condemned the March.

Does this mean you are leaving us?
Because if I was on a Forum that I didnt like I'd leave like one or two others have done in the last year.
I just pointed out that the Party you seem to support could be the next Government & we'd then have Angela Rayner as 2nd in command with no qualifications. The much cleverer opposition MPS would make mince meat of her and her reply would be 'Tory scum'
