Suspensions just give them paid holidays, couple them with loss of salary and or fines. Expulsions and removal as MPs need to be imposed, but because they are classed as 'honourable members' they are very rarely removed and are required to resign. At the moment we have an MP that has been convicted of indecent assault of a minor but has yet to resign as he wanted to collect his salary for April, this was reported in a number of papers and Parliament have yet to act. Would a member of the public be allowed such leniency, I think not. At present around 50 members from across the house have over 80 complaints against them, the majority of a sexual nature. Andre Leadsom has stated the department investigating is woefully understaffed and a new department needs setting up to handle this. But if they can't get their own house in order why should we trust anything they do regardless of political party or affiliation.
