Not racist by any means, but why are we getting bombarded by adverts on the telly by black and white mixed married couples?

Davy, my husband and I have mentioned that several times now, the other thing is you very rarely see an advert with an Indian or similar nationality family in it the adverts only ever seem to show black families?

After BLM, the TV companies went overboard to show black faces. If you turn on TV when adverts are running you would think you were in Africa. Reading Lenny Henry’s recent comments, it’s still not enough. Once I would not write this as I would be terrified I was called racist, but now I hear the same comments everywhere.

I agree with all, it's nonsense and in no way reflects society and it is not racist to express the truth.
While we are discussing adverts, can anyone tell me where the hell all of these kitchen dancers came from? I don't know a single person who dances around the kitchen with or without their mobile phone.

Racist ? Well I wasn't but I'm getting there. There was very little seious crime in our closest small city/town .BLM group complained they were being unordinately street stopped by police , well civil rights group agreed , pressured police brass to curtail this respose . Guess what , we now have a serious gun related crime issue . Oh my the polce aren't doing their job, their fault . Not related to TV commercials I know but the whole package has me slightly , WELL , anoyed.. The nice thing about TV I'm very selective what I watch but difficult with commercials .

In the past few years marketing companies have looked at various groups within the population, the disability pound, the black pound etc,. They did this in the States a few years back because companies were looking into the customer demographics and certain groups were vastly underrepresented in the sales. So a lot of it is about money. For the ladies the black cosmetic and hair industry in the UK is estimated to be worth £2.7 billion but literally none of the mainstream companies had targeted any products in this market. That's only one sector. Its all about money and who has it that we the companies haven't targeted. It made a difference in the USA for companies who went in that direction. And the saying is what the USA do we will follow.

Even HMQ isnt safe.
In the upcoming Jubilee concert the organisers have cast a Singaporian young lady (Janice Ho) in the role as the Queen as a young Princess.
The full effect is intended to be “relevant to our times” and representative of the “diverse voices of our country”, organisers said.
It is what is known as "Bridgerton" casting.
Nonsense say I. Casting is about physical representation.
Worse the b***** concert will also include a drag artist "Cheddar Gorgeous".
Well it isnt "relevant to my time" so I certainly will not be watching.

Mac like you I wasn't planning to watch either. But casting people who weren't exactly authentic to the roles isn't exactly new. The amount of white actors playing Othello, John Wayne as Genghis Khan, Robert Donat as the Mandarin in zinn of the Sixth Happiness. We also have people from various ethnic groups and sexual definitions complaining about the same thing you have, yet others are saying they are narrowing their chances of work. I think it will continue no matter what we say but its the rewriting of history rather than the 'artistic' interpretation that aggravates me.

Ray when we think about it we are all mongrels. No such thing as a pure bloodline the neatest thing you had to that were European Royal families and they were incredibly inbred.

87% of people in the UK are White, and 13% belong to a Black, Asian, Mixed or Other ethnic group (2011 Census data).

On a letter from the NHS there are 29 different languages. The only two I have not heard of are, Tagalog and Twi. Anyone know where these countries are.

Tagalog is the main language in the Philippines The Twi language us spoken mainly in Ghana and the Ivory Coast but is spoken in other countries nearby, I think it may be a tribal language. I was a school governor where we had over 35 first languages, it can get complicated as you may have someone from an African country where they will have a European language such as French because of colonisation then a tribal language, we used to get languages on applications and then spend half an hour trying to find out what it was. We had the children of a lot of mature overseas students so we never knew from one year to the next what language would turn up.

Thanks for that Brian. It made me think, I somehow thought the Philippians spoke mostly French or a dialect of Chinese. An interesting appointment you had a school Governor, not for the faint hearted in some schools.

I did over 20 years, Sheila with 14 of them as chair. The school became very good at dealing with the languages because of that we often got an influx of displaced children during conflicts such as the Bosnian conflict. It could be very challenging but also rewarding, Ofsted wasn't particularly helpful as they wouldn't allow leeway with children who came to us with literally no English, we weren't the only school like that but there wasn't many in our position so I spent many an hour battling inspectors. We eventually got recognised as Outstanding and other schools would come to us to see how we handled the language barriers and the systems we put in place. I stepped down in 2015 as I had enough of government cuts and pointless directives. We had suffered cuts before and I had addressed committee's in Parliament on a couple of occasions fighting for the schools in the Newcastle area, but in the end I decided to let someone else have a go. I have served as an LEA appointee for a couple of schools who had difficult Ofsteds where the governing body have been given an unfavourable report. The appointed governors would be brought in to help set frameworks for the governing body to work with but haven't done it for a couple of years. Still it was different and usually enjoyable if not a little stressful from time to time.

In hearing what you have just stated Bill in OZ tells a different story to what l exsperienced whe l landed under the bridge at circular quay as an emigrant in 1961 as a 10pound POM the only blacks were the poor indidinous Abiridginals,they were treated so so badly,
Australia had like America a coulour bar right up to the 1970s ,
I have been back down under a few times the last few years to Sydney to watch the the test matches the last time in 2017-18 series nothing much l thought had changed the poor abbos were still getting a raw deal l am afraid l did notice a lot of Japs and Asians.

Re Adverts, the best thing about Sky is the ‘Fast Forward’ button, we never watch any adverts, watch very few live programmes, usually tape them and then if they are rubbish just delete.
