Powerhouse folk to name please

Is it too late to get some names for these three photos taken in the long gone 'Powerhouse Club'? Lilian Flack nee Beattie thinks (& I agree) that these people are Hebburn Operatic Members performing at the Powerhouse. In later years they used the Hall at Hebburn Technical College.

Number 1 looks like Mr. Kellett, Headmaster of Clegwell.

I think the people on those photographs are the operatic society not the youth club.I became a member of the youth club from the summer 1949 until 1954 I do recall the operatic society being in the larger building of the powerhouse they moved up to the hebburn Technical college.Mr Kellet was a member.

Can you remember the extenention on the main building that was Mr Suggit's office he was the Manager of the Powerhouse when I went.He was in charge of the powerhouse theatre where the operas,,pantos.and plays were performed on the big stage.It was a great community centre for Hebburn.I remember in wartime I was just six yrs old being taken there by mrs Barnshaw and her daughter Audrey.who sadly is no longer with us.

Sorry but it was the mid 1950s when I went to the Powerhouse with my mates. I remember Mr & Mrs Masson running it.

I know you are ten years younger than me.but I thought that building would have still been there.I recall Billy Masson starting in the club in the fifties he was started as the weight lifting teacher for the lads and later some of the girls.which wasn't my cup of tea as I loved dancing also my limit was shorts and tee shirt for Tommy Carrs gymclasses,haha.

I worked in Reyrolle typing pool with Margaret Masson, It was her Mam and Dad who ran it then. Great times.

No Michael, sadly when we both got married we went our seperate ways. She married a lad from Reyrolle called Alan Curry I think his name was.

A memory from 1954/55 I was a friend of Moria McCarthy who lived in Langland Flats on Hedgely Road near the Massons. .I can remember seeing Margaret we assumed was studying, as she had her nose in a book, we think, but also had the lace curtain tied back,so everyone could see her. We waved and when she saw us she immediately pushed the curtain down. that must have been 68 years ago, butI still remember it. Moria and her parents with younger brother Dominic moved to Exeter in 1955, I still remember her as a nice girl. I used to visit Exeter from 2006 and often thought of her, but sadly my friend in Hebburn told me she had died. I believe she did marry and have a family, which was nice to know.
