Friday's header from the 50s

Today's header photo was taken on the little road that extended from the bottom of Prince Consort Rd alongside the river. The river was just yards to the right of the road.

Norman, I'm now wondering where the rail tracks started or who owned them or even when they disappeared. Great picture.

We used to spend hours playing duffers on that bridge, there was no rail lines there but I remember further down towards the river there was mounds of what we called red lead like a hard powdery stuff.

I remember that bridge the wall underneath what we thought was coins embedded on it.also my brother fell off it and split his head open.and he was left with a scar for the rest of his life.

Remember it from the 60s the timber was all gone but the two sides still there. Went through it lots of times on the backs of the bin wagons,

Ye we used to get backas from the tips to the top of prince concert Road, some times over station Bridge to Craig's corner, (when we were brave). We had no money, no fancy contraptions, but by hell we had lots and lots of Fun.
