Council elections

Just looking through results across the country it looks like the average turnout across the country was around 37%. So nearly two thirds of eligible voters couldn't be bothered to get off their backsides to vote. If you don't vote, don't whinge about the decisions local authorities make, your vote could make a difference, use it wisely.

Brian, I have always said if you don’t vote, don’t complain. We are not having local elections in this area. I must admit I will find it difficult to vote in the next General Election, unless things change, there is no party would vote for at the moment.

I agree with Sheila, when I was younger I used to vote Labour but lost confidence in them, then Conservative and now have lost confidence in them as well. I tend to vote Independent now but sadly it appears to be a lost vote. Have absolutely no intention of voting for any of the other parties.

Not in Hebburn but elsewhere in South Tyneside, I think they won a couple of seats.

Didn't vote, But I can winge if I want there all the same whoever you vote in. What have local elections ever done for us nothing. Except turn hebburn into a big council estate to pay for shields seafront. While hebburn and jarrow fall to bits.

Davy, I have been saying that for years now, Shields getting all the money while Hebburn cannot get the roads properly resurfaced, just patched up with a drop of tar here and there. A lot of visitors to the coast have to pass through the town centre which is a disgrace.

Newcastle is the same, all the money goes into the city centre, a bit heads to Gosforth and Jesmond, everybody else get the crumbs

I haven't lived in the area for some years, so I am not familiar with the comings and goings of the political parties.

Does the same Party run the Areas you mention and has it always been so?
