Mystery Bus-lane

Can anyone explain why the slip-road leading to Albert Road from the big roundabout near Wilkinson’s in Jarrow, needs a Bus-Lane.
It is only about 20-30 yards long and, as far as I can see, serves no purpose whatsoever.
Or, is it part of some yet to be revealed “Cunning Plan”?

could this be due to the instillation of a lot of steel supports under the bridge deck and the bus lane reduces the weight of two lanes of parked traffic waiting to go through Hill street traffic lights

I thought 'In the know' post was a reasonable explanation but it has been deleted??? It was non offensive.
It stated that the bus lane was to give priority to buses because of the tailbacks in traffic at the Hill Street junction.
Any reason for the deletion administration?

It wasnt offensive but it was posted by someone who has been a nuisance for years on Mike Ellison's Site, then Vikki's and now this one. He often pops on using different alias's.
