A Note of Caution

For those 'protest voting' in the recent by-elections, I would, perhaps, remind them of the GLC Election of 1981 when Labour came to power under the moderate leadership of Andrew McIntosh. Very shortly after the election was won, Mr.McIntosh was challenged for the Leadership by Ken Livingstone. Mr.Livingstone won his challenge and along with his left-wing buddies ruled the Greater London Council for some time. There were too many 'comings and goings' to note all that went on during his two terms of office and have little or no relevance to my point here. Fast forward to the General Election (due) May 2024. Tactical voting gives a majority to the Labour Party led by Sir Kier Starmer. Is there anyone who believes that Sir Kier will remain as Leader for more than a few weeks/months before he is challenged and defeated by a member of the 'Hard Left'? Answers on a postcard. Be warned. Note to the Liberal Party - No, you won't get a share of power as the Labour Party won't need you; revert to many more years of well-earned obscurity.
That is so true Peter, the Labour Party, in my opinion, are keeping Starmer as Leader, to them he is the ‘face’ of respectability, he stands for nothing but looks the part. Comrade Corbyn is still in the wings long with the other usual suspects, apparently Les Streeting is the supposed heir apparent, God help the country if someone like him is ever elected as PM!!!
It appears the remainders are all gathering to have a second referendum as soon as they get rid of Boris. No doubt they will win in a similar way these two recent by elections have been won. The Tories who had to resign their seats in disgrace have no one to blame but themselves.
The Tories have had enough of Boris, they think he will drive them to oblivion, the plotting is going on this time by reports via the 1922 committee. If I was him I wouldn't be planning for Christmas in Downing Street this year.
They certainly won't with him, he believes he is impervious and beyond the rules of parliament, he continuously lies to parliament, he lied to the Queen. They need to remove the parliamentary procedure where an MP cannot be called a liar as he uses it to protect himself, and how can a PM be the decision maker on whether he has done wrong or not. Sorry he is an untrustworthy dishonest charlatan, any other line of business he would be out of a job and probably in legal trouble.
Well said Brian,I couldn't have put it better myself ,Boris will cost the Conservative party the election with his arrogance "I will soldier on " Why? he's not fit to hold the job he has and staunch tory voters are looking elsewhere to use their vote .the sooner he leaves No10 the better !
It won't be long, the house of Lords is a cesspit of liars. Blair and Johnson will be right at home and nobody can persuade me that Blair's son made all that money without dad's 'business connections'.
