Allan, to add to that info. Formula F1 has contracted Pirelli tyres for all their races since 2010 and will continue till 2024, when it will come up for grabs again. A set of (4) F1 tyres can cost around $2,500 to $3,000. depending on type of tyre used. |
I remember about 50 years ago, the hardest (Formula) road tyres you could buy were Michelins ZZX's, and good for 30,000 to 35,00 miles. However, Other tyre manufacturers got a bit jealous, so forced Michelin to stop producing them in favour of a softer, sorter life tyre. Today at £600.00 plus, a set of Pirelli P4 FOUR SEASONS Plus has a warranty of a whopping 90,000 miles. How times have changed.
