Can you believe it but there is a call from Unions representing Civil Servants wanting heating bills of those civil servants who are working from home to be paid for by the Government, or by definition all of us, this is one of the most obscene things I have heard in a long time, it is about time these civil servants got back into the office pronto.

They can claim certain tax allowances for homeworking, it's up to them if they claim it. Nothing else needed.

It’s a bit much though Brian expecting us, the tax payer, to pay for their heating when they continue to work from home, they are saving on travel costs which should more than cover their heating costs, some of them will still be paid London Weighting Allowance as well.

From afar ; Time they all went back to office locations , if not close the actual facilities , none attendance no salaries , follow Twitters example show a full days work or fired ., To h... with their unions . Governement employment should be like the like. The ship yards of yesterday , modernize or shutter ., Priotize taxmoney allocation to where it's really needed a big example would be national health care . Thecomments of other Posts suggest that requires to be reinvented not repaired . ( There is no such thing as government money ) Tax payers money should benefit all ., My rant from a none financial contributor .

Some people the civil service work is going to part home, part office based.they get office furnishings delivered free of charge. they aren't under any obligation to use anything of their own. They aren't out of pocket, its obviously because of rising utilities this is happening but simply just raise the tax allowance slightly so everyone can benefit if they qualify. Most people are probably too lazy to be bothered to claim but it's worth around £400 p.a.

Absolutely disgusting. I thought 96,000 jobs were not needed now, as the extra people were employed to deal with Covid.

It just shows how weak this government is. Tell them to back to their normal working practises e.g....in the office or look for another job. they did get a chair to sit by their computer or £250 to buy one. As was said.....from the tax payers pocket.
