If going away for a few days and you switch off you heating

We left home for Northumberland on Sunday morning and I Switched off all heating.

We arrived back at 2 pm today and switched on heating at full chat.

It took until 5 pm for switching off point reached.

Now maybe I should have just left it on low just to keep the “ fabric” warm.

I’ll check the oil used tomorrow just to check.

Allan, I had an engineer working for me a few years ago and he always told me it was a false economy to keep switching heating in and off. Whenever we go away in the winter or during cold periods we always leave our heating on at about 16 degrees, we do turn the water temperature down slightly though.

Liz in this case maybe I should have but didn’t.

It rare that we go away in winter but will be going away in Jan/Feb for longer so yet to decide but expect it colder so probably just leave it on low.

Think that might be a good idea Allan, we also leave all room doors open so the warm air circulates. Enjoy the rest of your time away.

Ideal setting is around 15 degrees but if your leaving the house for a long spell, set it on the frost (Snowflake Symbol) setting and turn the Preheat Off.

A pound foolish a pound wise , never a good idea to leave your house unheated OR un air circulated , leaving inside doors open is a good idea . Off heating vacation away from home a small oscillating fan does the trick. Being a cat person , your stay at home cat keeps the air moving around. Don't forget your neighbour to feed and water the at .
