No Cycling posts for a while

Why.? Weather not suitable is main cause, rain, fog, mist or ice and if it’s below 5C the wind chill can bring temp. down to zero.

Have winter gear to cope but not head protection gear.

Have various skull caps and helmets etc. but seem to get a head cold too easy so just not riding.

Even out working in the garden limited to max of 2 hours unless in a sunny area.

I suppose it’s now my age telling me to take it easy.

Allan, my son has a balaclava which he bought online for cycling in cold weather, he said it has made quite a difference. I think it's slightly thicker than a base layer but he said it made a difference.

I don't suppose you watched Dragons Den on BBC 1 last night which showed a entrepreneur displaying his invention of a bike come rowing machine calling it the Road Rower it can be used out doors as a bike or a rowing machine in doors basically by hauling the the handle bars back like a pair of oars you can peddle all over the Yorkshire dales or row all the way around Britain and you are in your own home out of all the elements and mad driversthe dragons were not interested l thought of you saying in your post you were a bit long in the tooth and becoming a fair weather cyclist age catches up with all of us Allan.
The Road Rower will cost £3;000 .

Saw that machine but at £3,500 but not for me. If Inhad at amount spare I would buy another bike maybe.

However Imwould not touch that thing it’s too dangerous but reserve judgement until I have seen one and that is doubtful.

Failed to mention that If I came off my bike due to bad road conditions the damage that I could suffer would probably prevent me cycling again. I don’t bounce anymore.

Ann’s fall off her bike in 2019 has resulted in her not riding anymore etc..

There again you have to think about the NHS services not functioning including waiting times.

i normaly cycle 140 mile a week been out once this week the cycle tracks & old rail line tracks are still frozen & dangerous to ride on .i wear elbow protecters they have saved my bones a few times when coming of my bike

I assume that you start in Hebburn and go where using what routes.

The 140miles is that in 3 or 4 trips ? What bike do you have?

its normally 4 trips a week from bill quay sunderland Wylam airport & blyth normally 25 to 40 mile trips

Well done Ray. 20 miles is about my limit at the moment. However that is from home and we are surrounded by hills and you have to go up quite a few to get out or get back.

My favourite is to do the 10 mile climb from Menwith to top of Greenhow.

I would not try it from Pateley Bridge though as that is one hell of a climb but you cannot ride that road as there was a big land slip and it’s very difficult to fix.

I could take bike about 4 miles to the East to say Ripley Castle and it’s more level out East.

My eldest Son, flew out to Tenerife this morning on a 6 day cycling holiday with friends.

There are some very hard routes there in a artical I read a few weeks ago.
