E cars etc. plus cycles

I see that there is opposition to e cars in Germany and a lot think that it’s best to have better fuel for combustion engines.
The EU have or are changing their rules.
About time someone saw sense. If cars could be converted to run on better ( cleaner) fuels what a saving there could be.
You could buy a kit to allow your car to run on gas. In fact Vauxhall made a car that was dual fuel for a year or two.
If I replaced my 11year old diesel car with a new elec. car would I causing a lot more pollution than if I just used my 11 year old for another 6 years say. I think that’s the case.
I haven’t heard how you can convert my car to run on bio diesel, it’s been done but what are the costs and the availability of bio diesel?
Regarding cycles. I read in the cycling press that there is a big downturn in the sale of cycles.
I was in my local bike store on Friday Specialized one and the amount of bikes at reduced prices huge. Prices down from £10,000 to £8,000 but generally 20% reduction across the board even bikes at the £600 price point.
I think that people have got over the COVID panic and returned to public transport etc. and back to their fitness or sporting clubs etc. In any case a bike you ride for pleasure or fitness is different to one that you would ride to work on.
For me there’s two ways of looking at it. It’s bad that people are not turning to cycling as a means of getting around and thus reducing pollution. On the other hand there will not now be a load of cyclists on the roads to cause friction with vehicle drivers.
The great idea to get drivers etc. out of their cars onto bikes etc. was a faint hope anyway. The U.K. climate and lack of suitable roads plus the U.K. is not flat to me made it a pipe dream.
Cycle to work! I did back in the late 70’s but only when Ann needed the car. Yes I enjoyed the ride to work but then having to change clothing before starting work (to get out of sweaty gear ). The idea of sitting around in the office stinking no thanks. Then I could only do that ride in the summer months anyway. Mind it was a great ride home, downhill 90% of the way, fly boy fly.
