Tall Ships in 1986

A 1986 view of the Tyne Bridge, the Swing Bridge & the 'Hifg Level Bridge' when the 'Tall Ship's festival was taking place.
The redundant Car Ferry tied up on the left at Gateshead side was used as a Night Club called 'Tuxedo Princess'.It moved to the Clyde two years later.

I note that the rear loading ramp is open on the Tuxedo Express.

The Tuxedo Royale was raided by Customes and Excise in the late 1980s and a lot of duty free spirits were found in the lower parts of the boat, it was thought some of the booze made its way onto the boat that way.

Last year went on board the Blue Nose 2.., What a beautiful vessel, one of the TAll SHIPS, as well as a small full time e crew they have a part time student crew. It is equipped with a diesel engine as well as sails, the woodwork and finish was superb. Nice photo Norman
