Millions of BT, EE, O2, PlusNet, Shell, Sky, TalkTalk, Three, Virgin Media, and Vodafone customers will be hit with price hikes of up to 17.3% this spring, on the back of a sharp increase in the cost of living. We have a handy table below on what's happening and who's affected. Here's how much prices will rise in April Millions of broadband and mobile customers are facing bill rises of up to 17.3 percent next month. The majority of broadband providers don’t allow customers to leave penalty-free if prices rise so many will have to pay a fee to move to a better deal. Providers including BT, EE, O2, PlusNet, Shell, Sky TalkTalk, Three, Virgin Media, and Vodafone are hiking prices by up to 17.3% from April. And with average internet bills already at around £40 per month, “millions” of customers can expect to pay almost £100 more than “they had bargained” for during their contract, Martin Lewis recently shared the grim news that most broadband providers are increasing their monthly bills by around 14 percent this spring putting even more pressure on household budgets during the cost of living crisis. However, the consumer champion offered a ray of hope for people who subscribe to Virgin Media for TV, broadband, or home phone packages. During the latest edition of the Martin Lewis Podcast on Radio 5 Live, the financial guru explained that Virgin Media customers may be able to reduce their monthly bills despite a looming price hike. He shared a little-known fact that Virgin Media contracts do not contain a clause about mid-contract price rises, which means customers can leave within 30 days of notification of the increase completely penalty-free. However, people with Virgin Media who enjoy the services it provides may not want to leave and Martin is encouraging them to take his advice and haggle for a better deal.
My personal experience is the same, call virgin media 150 if you have a house phone, go through all the options, saying you want to cancel, you have to keep saying you want to cancel until you get through to the correct person, that will say let me look at what I can offer, then you can haggle with they will offer you a better deal, you must also include loyalty discounts and no increase over that period of contract or free to leave if this happens, they are waiting of you calling to offer you a discount if you do not call you to get anything, look at YouTube advisor they all will tell you if you don’t call and say you are going to cancel you get nothing even if you been with them for years, try it or suffer the increase. Beware of a package called “VOLT” it has a hidden package with o2 that they don’t tell you about it is a separate deal with o2 SIM BEWARE it is a separate deal AND YOU WIL LBE ASKED FOR A SEPARATE bank account details for o2 but they will not tell you that it is for o2then you get another contract for £25 per month o2 deal, SO STAY AWAY FROM VOLT, you only have a few days to cancel this, if you don’t get a bill for 30days you only had 14 days to cancel your stuck with that deal, so be aware of this offer, as they will say “FREE SIM CARD” WITH YOUR PACKAGE “FREE CALLS” it is a lie trust me, I HAVE AN ONGOING CASE WITH THE VERY SAME FACTS.
Vodafone is the same get SIM-only deals and they even offer broadband with SIM only ONE SHOP AT Washington offered me broadband and SIM ONLY for £28 per month, SIM only includes unlimited calls and text think 1GB DATA, deal if you only want broadband. Virgin offers a new smart “STREAMBOX” for a £35 one-off payment as long as you have broadband, you can then negotiate your package and cost but the streaming box was and is a one-off payment of £35 with no extra monthly cost, just plug it into TV like a ROKO or NOW box via HDMI and that is linked into broadband or wife you can look this up on YouTube link below Hope this help. so much I could have included but without boring you anymore after reading all this watch the video and research other alternatives or give me a call if you need any help.
BT sent me a dear sir letter about 3 years ago that they were upgrading me out loyalty to fast broadband and would only cost about £15 extra a month. When I phoned them up I asked how could they possibly give me fast broadband? Simples innit came the reply you are a new build with a smart meter outside your house. Hold on I said how can I get fast broadband when the smart meter is connect to a copper cable that runs nearly a half mile down the street and meets fibre optic at the end of the street? Oh came the reply gis a minute (he was away for 10 minutes) The reply was well you should get a new cable within the next 5 years in your street so we will remove the offer for the time being and have a nice day The old copper cable still runs along the duct in our street.
I Wonder if anyone's else in our street is paying for fast broadband without having it?
And I am certainly not knocking on doors to ask them.
