I had a Cannon printer which was very good but it died. Repairs to printer head expensive.
After looking as many makes I went for an Epsom, why because all the other makes are now making in their printers so that you have to use their printer cartridges not allowing you to buy and use compatible ones.
Then there is price. I deliberately spent £120 as cheaper printers have more expensive cartridges it appears.
I was surprised about the amount of sheets that the starter cartridges lasted 100-200 sheets.
With todays printers there is a learning curve till you get the hang of the printers systems. This time I’ve set the printer up to use via WiFi thus moving the printer to another part of the office clearing desk space and I can now also take my laptop into outer lounge and print from there. Handy if working on a lot of paperwork on the dining table.
Of course it depends on how much printing you will need to do. I can use 2 packets of paper in a year that’s a 1,000 sheets. That number may not be reached in future as nearing end of my research unless I go off on another tack.
A printer will only last say 2-3 years if heavy use but 5-6 years if light use. But that may be pushing it.
Unless you buy a printer with refillable ink tanks which keeps ink cost down but purchase cost higher.
In the end you pays your money and takes your chance.
Not had WiFi for last 4 weeks

I think it depends on what your going to print. I print alot of Invoices and lables and use 2 laser printers ....a Dell and an old Samsung. Toners last for ages and never dry up like inkjets. But mine are only mono , so no good for photos. For colour photos I use a Canon Pixma TS5050 and I get the 4 inks quite cheap... around about £13.00 a set. I always found Epson printers great for photo's and HP good printers for text. I think before buying a printer check out the cost of replacement inks first then that may determine what make to go for.
