I have added a bit info on the photo taken in Lyon St. My first 9 years were spent in a upstairs Flat on the block between Smiths Printers on Albert St corner & Winnie Gallagher's Paper shop on Bewick St corner.

Norman. I very much appreciate all the photos of old Hebburn that you put on the board.
It was rare for me to visit Hebburn Quay, when I did it was to visit Dr. Miller or a cousin that lived in Cuthbert’s Street.
I must have been taken there plenty times but I have very little memory of it.
Of course I was there every working day from January 1958 up to April 1966 when I worked at Palmers.
Of course that would be go work then straight back home.
The Quay was just too far away for the lads from the Mill Lane area to visit unless they had relations there.
My route to and from work was over the station bridge, Argyle St. Caledonian St. then into Palmers offices.
The only change was when walking Ann home when we went over the footbridge to Campbell park Rd.
How did I get to work? Very rare but on my bike. Bus but cannot remember how I got there, I assume I got off a bus on Argyle St. ( which bus would that be from Mill lane.)
Of course After work the works buses going to Pelaw etc.
I would sometimes get a lift on the pillion of Les Roberts Big motors bikes to top of Station Road. That was an experience as he gave it full wellie over the Station Bridge.
From March 1960 I had my own car until about August 1963 then back to the buses.
I cannot remember how Ann and I got to Palmers after we got married until such times we bought a car. Mind is blank.
