Copying old photos. Scanning problems

I tried yesterday to scan some old photos into my computer using the scanner of my printer.

It did some but they end up as Google photos not Tiff , PNG etc.

I dug out my older scanner but it would not work and I am assuming that the software of the two is clashing as both Epson.

I will try using the scanner with an older PC that does not have the printer software on it.

I may have to resort to taking a photo of the photos with iPad or my camera.

I will try and if need be go to a photographer.

There are 4 or 5 photos that I need copies of as they have an old diving buddy on them taken in 1976 which his family will not have seen and it’s his funeral in 10 days I took the photos back then.

Alan, I'm sure someone close to you could scan the photos for you but if your stuck I can scan any photos and put them onto a disk, pendrive or whatever. I've had years of experience creating slide shows on DVD , copying video to digital format,etc. Norman has my details.

As printer new, not used the scanner other than straight copy of documents. But photos are a bit different. Had a play around and got a few photos into my PC.

Will have another play around over the next few days.

The basic problem is ME not done much computer stuff for a few years very RUSTY. Usual stuff is recording heating oil consumption, some Word Documents and downloading BMD etc.

I’m thinking of changing my 2 old PC’s. Probable buying a new tower and installing the hard drives from the old one’s if compatible, otherwise into a case.

I may buy one of these mini PD’s which are not much bigger than a saucer about 4”x4” x21/2 high.

I have to start clearing out old gear and a lot of documents. Probably a good winters work.

Towers are not much seen now although you still can get them.
But I suggest you try an "all in one" which take up little desk space.
For two years I have had a Dell Inspiron 5410 24" screen which I am very pleased with. I added a disc player and a 1T back up disc. Frankly I have hardly used the disc player, tech has moved on, but it is there jic. All my music was transferred some years ago to the hard disc and for new stuff I go to Spotify.

A tower or Mini PC cost around £550 ish. I have the monitors and key boards.

I can probably get an all on one Apple Mac for free but it might be too technical for me so I’m told ? Provided it’s not been sold!

I will decide what I’m going to do in October/ November but first I have to decide what I’m going to try to do etc.

Just have to get back into computing and organising stuff
