Taking boats to sea USA

I was watching a few videos on U tube generally inUSA about people taking various sizes of boats out to sea from a harbour that has plenty of wave action.
Talk about numbskulls.
The probable worst was one had engine failure and a chap opened up two hatches near the transom probably to switch fuel tanks for the two big outboards.
The boat got pooped and almost sunk.
The fool actually walked forward away from the hatches to the cockpit leaving the hatches open. In goes the water.
This harbour or inlet seems to have at the entrance a series of 6 or 7 waves heading straight in. The wave’s more rollers not breaking waves.
Only a short distance between wave crests.
Boats driven too fast the bow dives into a wave and some people flipped out of the boat.
This inlet appears to have people on boat skis to rescue people etc.
When into diving I passed my Diver Cox and radio exams and instructed other divers how to boat handle.
To say I was a bit shocked at these boat cox’s antics.
The harbour entrance at Whitby can be similar at certain states of the tide but no way as bad.
I have been caught twice with bad weather returning from the Farnes to Beadnell and on one of them it got very dodgy.
It’s worth watching under the heading ( Mad) Men in Boats.
Talk about crazy absolutely nuts and even more so as very very few of those on board are wearing life jackets.
Having spent well over 20 years as a Diver Cox I was shocked.
I also been helmsmen on trawlers out of Oban going to Coll and Tiree as well as the sound of Mull. Tobermory Harbour got very interesting one day going in to moor up for the night.
The skipper allowed us to practice docking alongside the main quay. We were astounded the way he could get alongside the quay wall very quickly.
