Norman, don't shut it down, it may not be what you originally thought but I for one feel it is very valuable and provides a form of community.
This I think is part of what you value from old past memories , is it not?

Norman you've worked hard to keep this site up and running. I'm sure. I agree with David. There has been a time in my life when I faced a turmoil but the members of this board got me through it. It means a lot to us so keep it going!

I am not closing the board just letting people know what kind of Forum it's supposed to be.
If I was fed up I would offer someone else the chance to run it.I would never just suddenly close it like what happened with Mike Ellison's old Forum

So pleased to hear that Norman, apologies if we get a bit carried away with things, maybe we should think before we post, thing is there is so much going on in this country at the moment that it is nice to have a forum to vent our feelings, so many people post on your forum with different views, it is good to hear what people have to say, we don’t always agree with each other but we don’t fall out, you are correct though we have deviated from what the Board is supposed to be about, apologies.

Completely agree Norman. I believe I have indeed deviated in some of my posts. I will endeavour to stick to subjects that the the board was set up for in future.

Regarding the Photo of 1937 taken by Air there were about 9 responses yes 4 at least were from me.

The days of taking about OLD Hebburn etc. I agree coming to an end. Quite a few of us have popped off so to speak and those of us that remain our memories are not what they were.

What I do know that my knowledge of Hebburn is very very poor and I think that is because the Crawley area was so remote from the main part of Hebburn.

I put up threads that have nowt to do with Tyneside but I hope just give a bit of interest for board members. What is disheartening is that there often are no responses whatsoever.

I do note that some subjects seem to create a lot of unnecessary comments and I scratch my head.

I normally read every thread and its comments. I do try to resist posting a comment and must try harder not to post.

In a lot of ways the board keeps the old brain going and I’m thankful for that.

Ann & I have reached to stage that we have very very little contact with others other than close family. People move away, died or not now able to contact.

I have to agree with your comment Norman in that the board has changed but hope we can get it back to what it used to be, Well said Norman.

Norman I am a member of another heritage group forum and it sometimes goes a day or two without a posting purely because of in some cases fear of repeating ourselves, also you get a posting that gets no reaction whatsoever from time to time it's just the nature of forums.

I looked could not see St Cuthberts Church but definitely looked trying to work out where our house was in Cuthbert St.Who would not want to have the chance to see all those years ago where you lived thanks Norman.

Like you Maria I looked for Edmund St , the 1st home of my parents who came from N.Ireland and settled here , It is an excellent photograph , but I too made no comment, but I do appreciate the photo being shown 👍

Norman, sorry I don’t post much about the Quay. For years the nearest I went was argyle Street. St Aloysius School. I know the names of streets but never where they were in the Quay and even when going to the Gem Cinema, I never knew what street it was in. It was the Quay, the Colliery and the New Town , were all separate parts of Hebburn.

Norman, do you remember years ago Mikes sight started to have similar problems, to much politics so he decided to create a politics area separate for anyone wanting to post about politics. It didn’t last as no one posted. I think posts just gather replies and it multiplies. I’m guilty, so shall pull back from politics. You know I value your site and appreciate it .

Don't beat yourself up Norman change happens and your board still has currency.
And whilst Hebburn and Jarrow and area subjects are interesting, in my opinion to hear comparators with other areas are just as valid.
Yes there are moans but in general it is a much better forum than wider social media and its users are pretty well behaved.
For my money I don't go with the jokes and cartoons because many of them have been online for years and years. Of course just to complicate that comment I am enjoying the Geordie jokes.
So each to his own.
And your view from the air. It was interesting but not something I thought of commenting on. The picture said it all.

Norman, I agree 100%, so much talk about the Government and all the troubles involved, there are many of us from Hebburn and the North East all now living in different countries, we all have many of these problems, the whole world is a mess, your site used to be an escape from all this, discussing many topics we could all talk about, let's hope it can be what it once was.

Sad to hear your unhappiness with regards to the Board and I can fully understand where you are coming from.

I look forward to reading the various comments and seeing the wonderful old historical photographs every day, bringing back many memories as well as making me aware of many historical facts about our region, long May it continue.

I don't really post here that much, but I do read the board every day. I did notice the increase in the amount of political posts, especially in the run up to the general election when the "no party politics" rule was temporarily lifted.

I think it's to be expected that when so much is going on in the world that people's anxieties are going to spill out into forums like this one. Here in the USA we are approaching a pivotal election that could dramatically change the path that the country is taking, possibly steering us in to a much more authoritarian, some say theocratic, form of government. US-based forums like Reddit are full of discussions about what may be to come, people's hopes and fears.

I think like everything though, these discussions will wax and wane, and the essential purpose of the board as a place for Hebburn people all over the world to meet and discuss hasn't been lost, especially with the fantastic old photographs to stimulate conversation.

well Norman, I turn to your forum for various subjects.Frankly it is because I know I will get sensible answers and good advice.I value that beyond words, but my heart will always be in good old Hebburn. You keep it alive, it s like family to me, you know the saying, you can take the girl out of Hebburn, but you can't take Hebburn out of the girl!

I have never stopped trying to find an Arthur St photo specially for you. Maybe someone will have a photo to lend me one of these days.
