We took our 2 grand children for fish'n'chips at North Shields Fish Quay yesterday. Whilst there we took a look at our beautiful Harbour so here are a few pics I took with my Samsung Mobile phone. Hope it doesnt make you expats homesick

Pic 2 shows the Lord Collingwood memorial at Tynemouth, completed 1845. He was a 'Newcastle man' (a Geordie) and was the famous Lord Nelson's second in command at the battle of Trafalgar.
Pic 3 shows 'The Groyne' lighthouse all wrapped up whilst work is being carried out on its damage.

It's strange when you look in reverse. Tynemouth to South Shields. Nice views though. Good beaches there too.

I may have been away for sixty three years, and love where I live, but will always feel a bit homesick looking at photos of places where I grew up.

Great memories Norman'walked along the S Sheilds side regularly as I married a S Sheilds girl. What is that large white building on the end of the pier.
Yes Norman, brings back fond memories.

The light on the Groyne is currently under restoration hence the scaffolding and white protective covering.
You may have seen that the South Pier was damaged during a recent storm and parts have not been accessible since. But plans are afoot as per this article
