The following two photos are Leslie's trips.

Note the Shuggy Boats and is that a railway sign in the background.

I've asked this Q years ago and had the answer but its lost.

On the all men Photo the chap 3rd from L middle row was in a football team photo of Leslie or Hebburn team with G/F Campbell as coach in a suit.

The photo was taken at a well known picnic spot called 'Ryton Willows'. Mid Tyne Ferries took parties there. The Willows was on the south bank of the Tyne not many miles passed Blaydon

Marvellous photos, still baffles me though, why would people want to shirt and tie up for a leisurely trip up the river.

That’s probably the way it was back in those days. The all men photo almost a Staff meeting. The top man probably in the light suit.

It still there although there was a fire there a couple of years back.

Yes it’s at Ryton Willows, St Cuthberts church used go there for their school trips there, i remember the picnic foods was transported in the Royal Mail delivery pram and we got the train from Hebburn Station to the Willows.

Worked on the ferries two boats used to go up there sometimes used to pick up people at hebburn wallsend walker south and north shields every August.

Went there on ferry have a photo of me and my sister sitting in a field full of bluebells .

Used to be a regular river boat shuffle from Newcastle Quayside to Ryton Willows on Saturday evenings. Two paddle steamers each with a Dixiland style band. Parked up at the willows and up to the pub for great night. Anyone remember taking a trip during the 1950s - 1960s?
