The BBC inhabits a different universe to me. I switched off quickly but the image of a bearded bloke in a frock still haunts me.

Self indulgent and self absorbed, he has lost a lot of fans with his new persona, a real pity as home had a decent voice. We watched the Northern Soul prom last year and I have to say it was brilliant, great vocalists and orchestra and the RAH was bouncing with people dancing. This time it's the Beeb ticking boxes to try and be credible, they are losing viewers and listeners under 35 at an alarming rate, they are seen as an archaic out of touch organisation and decisions like these actually reinforce the fact, there's so many other artists who could have been used.

I was flicking through the channels last night and came across the Proms, but quickly changed channels when I realised who was on. Not for me. With regards to Northern Soul, I like watching the YouTube vids from Wigan and various places........the music is great and the dancing is fantastic to watch. Would love to try that dancing but I'd need to buy those wide trousers they wear. Most entertaining, unlike the Proms last night.

Brian, is it Sam Smith we are talking about, I get confused these days, he is a bit of a weirdo though if this is the person we are talking about, I did read he was going to be appearing at the Ptoms, why I don’t know!!!
