This photo was taken during WW2 so this is a last opportunity to get some names for these local Air Training Corps members from 81 yrs ago. Can anyone recognise dad, grandad,or uncle?

X is a double for our headmaster at the Quay Board School in the the middle of the 1940s.his name was Percy Jenkinson?

Totally agree with you Tom. His name was John Edward Jenkins known as Percy. Caned me most mornings for being late. Sometimes I was lucky and was too late for the late line.

Just the once for me don't know if it was Mr Jenkins or Mr Dunlop. Had strange eye when he looked at you maybe a false eye .

I remember him as a real gentleman, always took his hat off to say good morning. I think he lived in an Avenue off Victoria Road West. Never went to his school.

Mr. Dunlop had a false eye and HE liked the cane as well but I managed to avoid that one.

It's possible that R is Norman Helsby and V is
Leonard Helsby. My two uncles

Rhoda. V Looks just like Mr. Helsby as I knew him at St John's Church. Lovely couple he and his wife.

Mr Jenkins l thought lived in St Rollix st mr Dunlop did have a glass eye he always rushed out of school just before 4 pm to enable him to hurry down Ellison st to catch the ferry for Wallsend before the shipyards came out.Percy Jenkins had a son called David,he actually went to Cambridge on a summer holiday he worked in Palmers Joiners shop labouring and some times he would back me off on the 4 cutter machine,first few days in the job he took a bit of stick and especially being the Quay Board head masters son but after a while he settled in well he would use Leather gloves we all accepted his posh voice he was just a great person no airs and graces every looked just like his dad with a pencilled tash.l think he was studying at Oxford. Ps His dad always by the way wore a bowler hat and used to carry a umbrella to and from school.

Tom, I can’t remember Mr Jenkins living in St Rollox Street. He usually came down the side of the Newtown Club and I often saw him either walking up North Farm Road or Tharsis Road, I don’t know where he lived but seem to think it was just over Victoria Road West. Perhaps I saw him some time or someone might have told me. I just remember him as an old style gentleman, always lifted his hat to say good morning or good afternoon. He certainly had a long walk from school home.

I checked the Hebburn 1910 Rates List & Susan Jenkins owned 38, 30 & 28 St Rollox St.
A man called JG Jenkins lived at 10 Newton Tce & owned the property, which is on Victoria Rd West.

Norman, when I used to see him Mr Jenkins was probably
Early or mid 1950’s I know he has a son probably at a grammar school. I don’t really know where he lived just the direction he used to come from. If he ever lived in St Rollox Street, I don’t remember him. Thinking about it, I didn’t know many who lived in the top part , I just remember some who lived in the bottom half

I believe Percy Jenkins lived in (Craddick) Ave, it was beside the cemetery, I think he was related to the head mistress of the Hebburn New Town school Miss Owen, and her sister Mrs Webb who also taught at the school.

Sheila, I din't remember a son, but I know he had a daughter named Jennifer, she went to private school.

Anne I’ve just read you post, Craddick Avenue sounds right as he used to cone and go past the New Town Club, I thought he lived off Victoria Road West, which would be correct.
