Nice produce Brian, bet you enjoy eating your vegetables.

We have had an extremely good apple crop so far, we have enjoyed Swedish Apple Cakes, Apple Srudel, Apple and plum crumble, loads of stewed apples ready for later use, not only that but the eating apples have been good, we also managed a few pears this year. The local farmer has not started to harvest his apples yet, he always does that towards the end of September, they get sent to Thatchers and Bulmers to make cider.

The ratatouille was really good I also used my own home grown herbs and garlic in it. My apple crop was poor this year but expected it after a severe pruning but have negotiated for some apples from another plot in exchange for homemade jam and chutney. I am entering the Newcastle allotment show this weekend with jams,pickles and chutneys so I may be successful but I may not, I'll let you know how I get on.

To be honest Brian our apple crop was much better than expected, there are still some fantastic apples on one particular tree but unfortunately they are very high up and we don’t have a gadget to displace them, might ask one of the neighbours if they have such a thing.

Our apple trees hadn't been looked after and needed a severe pruning, I think it will be the year after next before we get a decent crop. Thanks for your best wishes for Sunday.

The classes had been changed so we only entered 2 classes, very large classes, but we got a third for our beetroot and came 4th for jam but prizes for top 3 only. They will have to divide the classes next year as they were by far the largest classes on the day.
