Hawthorn Leslies no longer exists and the land will soon be another Hebburn Housing Estate. This photo was taken in 1974 when we also had a Ferry service to Wallsend and Walker. All gone now though

When I was little, we lived in Quarry Rd and we could hear the riveting guns from the shipyards. So loud but again better days..

Loved watching the ships being launched, such excitement, it was great fun watching after the ship left the slipway and was heading towards the Bill Quay side of the Tyne, would it stop we always wondered, of course it did but you just never knew!!!
