St Paul's Church in Jarrow.

This beautiful old church is well worth visiting. Adjacent to it is the grave yard & the ruins of the old Monastery where St Bede lived. It's graveyard is where most of the Jarrow Miners killed in accidents and explosions are buried. Children as young as 7 yrs of age were among those killed at the Pit.
Nice photo Norman! The buildings around the church have long gone but I traced historical graves from the 1500's. I have also discovered what happened to the monastery stones lying about. The council used them on Jarrow cemetery wall and also the Port of Tyne wall. Mr and Mrs Drewitt are buried at the rear of the church. Interesting building and interesting history!
