Stop 16yo's and younger using social media

How is this for planning by our MP's in Gov't? they are calling to give 16 yo's the vote? Yet, some think tanks are saying that in order to deter abuse by younger users we must STOP 16's and younger using the social media platforms! you couldn't make it up.

They have been talking about giving 16 year olds the vote for awhile now, I guess the thinking behind this is that by giving the younger generation the vote it will help keep Labour in power, min£ you other Parties have thought about this as well, I think 16 is too young to be given the vote.

I was probably the same but working in Palmers DO changed that due to the amount of strikes that the draughtsmen were called out on.

Inter union I seem to recall but memory now a bit vague after 65 years. Probably using disputes with employers as a means to an end, inter union power struggle.

Mac C, my wife was of a socialist mind till I drove her through Bulgaria and few other Soviet Counties on our way to the UK, I think she changed her mind because she never mentioned it again.

As Maggie Thatcher once said ‘the problem with Socialism is that you eventually run out of other peoples money’ I have a feeling that at the end of this current Government’s term in office our money, that they are spending like there is no tomorrow, will have well and truly run out - then what???

I think this Government are a bunch of amateurs and they are proving it. I cant see Labour Voters being very happy with them.
Meanwhile thousands of 'Invaders' are storming into the country which is going to bankrupt us.

Their emergency fund now has £ 76,000 a drop from something like £7,000,000.

Sounds like South Tyneside and I bet there are a lot of others.

However I not heard of any Conservative or Liberal Councils in the same plight but there must be but to a lesser sums.

Woking council in Surrey declared itself bankrupt in 2023 , with debts of 2billion. The Liberal Democrats were in charge, but I believe the Tories in the past had run up debts also.

All councils will be in trouble it’s just a question of degree.

I would like to see the details but doubt that I could make sense of it and there could well be so many variables like heavy flooding in an area etc.

The conservatives council at the time, admitted it was risky investment spending spree, involving Hotels and skyscrapers.

Speaking of stupidity by Councils, remember the millions lost when Councils had invested in Icelandic Banks that subsequently went bust, I think that was about 2008, the list just went in and on?

Probably received brown envelopes at the time Brian. Did anyone ever know where the money went to keep St Clare’s Hospice open.
Often wondered, as I heard it was a wonderful asset to the area.

St Clares if I remember was described in a report
as not fit for purpose and this report meant the services were moved to South Tyneside Hospital. We could probably visit every council in the country and find something that we would probably shake our heads in disbelief at.

Not fit for purpose! It must have been just over five years ago. I now of someone who lived in the Midlands what’s diagnosed with terminal cancer. He parents were too, elderly to keep travelling so she arranged to be brought by private Ambulance to St Clare’s obviously as a private patient. She died there within a short time. He parents thought she was looked superbly look after.

Sore point with me. Not long before closing, lots of furnishings were bought and ended up at Hartlepool. The gut running the hospice sent the patients into an Alzheimers ward at STH where the cancer patients were getting beat up by some Alzheimers patients. I attended the public meeting where a nurse confirmed it.
Also, I was with Macmillan Cancer Support for over 10 years in Hartlepool when hundreds of brand new tee-shirts, vests etc were scrapped because some useless wiseguy in London decided to change the
logo.That cost was astronomical in which many of us left the team in disgust.

Yes Sheila they did and it did no good. He bragged he was a clinical director and his word was final. To me he was an insensitive idiot. When I tackled Alice House hartlepool about the furniture they denied knowing about it, but it magically appeared in their charity shops and I saw photos of it being removed at Jarrow...

It's time charity began at home and not in salaries and company cars. Charities are top heavy with it. Believe me I've seen it lots of times.
