As much you would see would be homemade rosettes, maybe a scarf or a homemade rattle. Merchandise wasn't even thought of. The cars were almost certainly direcors and their friends,drinks after the match in the boardroom and then to the cars after the crowds disperse.

Just love these old photos, going to St James’s Park, mind you not in the 1930’s, was always so exciting, if Newcastle had won leaving was wonderful smiles on faces and much excitement.

I have to admit to going to Roker Park as well it was just the same there, but I enjoyed St James’s Park more.

Only vaguely remember both football grounds.

How long was that stand in existence before being knocked down ?

The old Milburn Stand was demolished in 1987

I knew John Gallagher who was nicknamed 'the Flying Scot' and he got me and my son free tickets in the Milburn stand for a whole season. Sometimes we sat with players that weren't playing in that match for some reason. Brilliant view.
