Possible pay per mile? Introduced tomorrow?

That could kill industry if implemented. Then how could people traveling to work afford the cost.

It’s said that 15 p per mile is possible that’s £1.500 per year for 10,000 miles.

It could kill the holiday trade etc.

Hope the article is just people stirring.

What will we be saying this time tomorrow?

Fingers crossed we are allowed to keep the bus pass after today Davy.

Probably used it a dozen times as these days the bus stop is 30 min walk away and the local bus only every 60 min.

The Penalty for living out in the sticks.

We could have driven to a bus route but then the time lost negates any cost advantage.

After 1980 we did not live close enough to a bus route that was of any use.

We live in a quite close just off the main road , bus into town or Oxford every 20minutes. I only started using it last year and it really convenient. My young neighbours next door , both work in Oxford and use the bus instead of the car. I can appreciate how much a car is need if you live in the country.

Shelia. If we didn’t have the caravan and to carry bike plus cargo shifting we could have a smaller car.

However our present car will do us hopefully for some years.

More speculation. Lets wait a couple of hours to hear the full announcement on all fronts.
There is too much ill-informed comment and more "inside" leaks than a rusty colander.

Rachel Reeves must be the first Chancellor to get a ‘ticking off’ by The Speaker just before giving the Budget Speak, it would have been really funny if she had been asked to leave the Chamber for showing contempt to the House!!!

I didn’t see that Liz. Well so much for their “ Fully Funded” Manifesto. 40 billion a year tax hike. Five times the level the said was required . We will have to hope we see how it will help the NHS and Education.

Pity you missed the ticking off Sheila it was done just before the Budget speech.

It seems to me that the way things are going all of the tax revenues received will be going to 2 ‘problems’ the NHS and keeping illegal migrants in a style that they have now become accustomed to.

Whatever Party is the Governing Party they just can’t keep throwing billons of pounds at the NHS, the NHS needs a major overhaul, no party politics, someone has to be ruthless in getting rid of all of so called Diversity staff, middle management, that kind of thing there just seems to be so much baggage attached to the NHS so much so nothing seems to work correctly any longer.

Liz I agree, to much management in the NHS. I read something interesting today. The government are going to fast track asylum seekers who are costing a fortune, but they have a plan. Once given permission to stay, they are no longer the governments responsibility, they will then be the responsibility of the local council. Most have little or no English, so they will find it hard to find employment. Until they are employed our council tax will pay for their accommodation. So we can expect a hike in the council tax for the next year and many years to come.
