Campbell St born Bob Noble still likes a joke and is still young at heart.
It was his 97th birthday recently & this is what we arranged because of all those candles on his cake.

Thanks Norman.Yes a joke a day keeps the doctor away.
As a matter of fact I did happen to have a world war2 stirrup pump to hand plus a bucket of sand just waiting for this special day. When I phoned the fire service they refused to turn out, said " It was too dangerous:Not true of course. But I am pleased to have survived to fight another day.Lots of people brought loads of presents mainly of the alcoholic brew. There is an old saying--"As one door opens another one closes. Two days before my birthday I was put on some blood thinners, SO !1 alcohol became TABOO. . You could not make it up. Cheers.

Thank you Norman, an...interesting birthday, working, as usual, in beautiful sunshine, and managed to make time for a wee drive out in my lovely (but old) car....LOL

It may depend on your particular problem but expect to be on them forever.

I’m on a Asprin every day following my heart attack.

To get well into your 90’s an achievement.

Reading all in the press it appears that you do good to get past 86, so another 4 years for me plus whatever I can.

Thank you each and every one. It wasn't all doom and gloom. A good friend came to my rescue.Bringing with him an eight pack of Guinness Draught Alcohol Free Stout. How kind of him. I must admit I may have looked a touched crest falling at the time. You must have to play the sympathy card sometimes when it is to your advantage, ----Well !! it was my 97th Birthday . I don't think I will see that again. Now the winter allowance has gone it may be sooner than I would wish.Not too politcal I hope.Me thinks there is very little that does't have political connotations in our lives now, but then "What's New"

I had a blood clot on my lung in my early 40s and was on wayfarin(same stuff as in rat poison) for 5 years. I was allowed to drink but only a couple of beers a week to start with. There was certain vegetables you had to be careful with too. It was a case of monitoring you for the first few months then they relaxed the limits when they saw you could behave yourself.

Bob you most certainly won’t see 97 again but you will see and look forward to your 98th Birthday, you better start collecting the candles now!!!

Hi every one. Yes it is a fact of life for many of us, young and not so young.I have been on blood thinners since my quadruple bypass way back in 1995 along with a foot or two of second hand plumbing taken from each of my left and right calfs, they must have found a decent slice to have kept me going since then 'For which I shall be eternally grateful". The Aspirin in my monthly repeat prescription has now to be taken out then replaced with a different one to be taken twice a day . They will join the que alongside one for night cramp and three a day for Polymyalgia rheumatic.As I sit at my iMac my daughter has brought me a large mug of Cadbury's hot Chocolate made with hot whole milk. 'Eat you'y heart out Chancellor "

Keep taking the pills Bob. You remind me of a neighbour in his 90’s. He was taking 11 pills a day. Took them all at the same time as he said “ they will find where they are needed”. It always made me laugh. I look forward to wishing you your 100th birthday.

You are Amazing. Your parent must have passed you some tough Geordie Genes aswell as a bad one or two hence your operations in 1995.
Can we all come to Bristol for your 100th?
