Thanks Peter. Great memories of a burst appendix in there 1958! Saved by Mr. Islam but in there for around 5 weeks. Some of the nurses were Mary Marshall, Anne Crammond, Jane Dodds. Maybe they are still around today hopefully!

Alan Campbell may recognise the year of the Hebburn ambulance by the reg of 1785HN. That is how I remember it!

My Mam was Ann Crammon she was training as an SRN at the Ingham Infirmary in 1958..I assume it's the same person as in the article ...she was 17 at the time,she went on to be a staff nurse . I assume the Anne Crammand was my Mam, just misspelt.She loved working at the Ingham and left in 1964 when I was born. I'll post a picture of her.

Lesley, a lovey photo of your Mam. Love her uniform. Nice memory of how nurses used to look. Superb nurses today but their uniform has not changed for the better. You don’t know what grade they are now.

Aww something I hadn't said that Mam passed away in August 2022....very sad and quick. She was nearly 81.She did say that working in hospital now wasn't the sane as years ago the matron used to run her finger along the window sill and radiator to see if there was any dust! She worked with Anne Seymour at the Ingham. I've attached another picture. Also of one when she was working at the Ingham Infirmary with Mr Dyan consultant. Mam is top row 3rd from right .

Sorry ment to post a more recent picture as well....a year before Mam passed away ..by the way I misspelt Mam's name should be Ann Cramman... then Brown!
