Names wanted from 1961

As usual I'd like some names to add to these photos. This could be the last chance to get names from 63 yrs ago. Park Church became an Auction House & then it mysteriously caught fire in 2017 and is still standing in 2024 looking like a bombed empty shell of a Church from WW2.(pic below)

No1, pictured in the drama group looks like Mr Alan Heaton a teacher in the Quay Board School.

Does anyone remember a drama teacher clegwell or quay board ?. Called her Mrs Veitch don't know how it came about but ended up going to drama lessons at croft terrace school at night typical winter dark nights long walk that did not last long.

I can recall a Mrs Veitch visiting St Bede's Harold Street school around 1959. She gave us a talk on drama. She was the widow of Colin Veitch, the Newcastle United and England footballer. He and his wife were very much into the Arts and co-founded the Peoples' Theatre in Newcastle. I admit we weren't all that interested in her talk, however when she passed around her husband's FA Cup winner's medal we were very impressed.

Correction - the Peoples' Theatre was founded by Colin Veitch and his brother Norman. The Mrs Veitch (nee Greta Mary Burke) who visited us was Colin's second wife after the death of his first in 1923.

Thanks Patrick Mrs veitch must have been visiting one of the schools, l believe she lived Gosforth High st .So glad you posted Patrick the memory always stayed with me if I had stayed with the Drama classes I might have ended up in lights ha strange my mam was Mary Burke.

Very interesting Patrick.Was reading about her husband.My Mam and Dad where Mary and Michael Burke dads family came from County Mayo but came to Hebburn Mam was from Jarrow nee Weightman.

I agree with John Shearer it is not mr Heaton of the Quay Board school he always wore glasses.
