Jarrow Crusade

On Sunday the 31st of October 1936 and with the rain lashing down the Jarrow Crusade heads into London for Marble Arch on the final leg of the march from Jarrow.

After seeing those weary, desperate Marchers, Sir John Jarvis a wealthy Tory MP for Surrey felt so sad for them he wanted to help & he did.
He purchased redundant Ocean Liners to be scrapped in a Jarrow shipyard.He also created Jarrow Metal Industries in Bedewell Works, Tube Works Etc.

My great uncle Martin Joyce was one of the marchers so proud of everyone of them.x
