Great photo Norman.

The Trams at that time were horse drawn.

Look at the size of the pains of glass in the shop bottom LHS.

Are the ones in the doorway curve?

I wonder when it became possible to manufacture those sizes?

There are two sets near the camera location. Then there is a switch of sorts that and possibly a single going towards Ocean Rd.

There maybe 2 but photo not very clear.

Could the 2 to allow going around the Market place to in effect turn the Tram around to go the other way.

Allan, it seemed to me the tram cars could be operated on either end, on a single track the Dr er switched the pole around to reverse direction of travel.

Maybe later on but that photo is when horse drawn trams were in use.

The Market Square used as a turning point maybe by just going around it. How were they turned around at the Pier Head?

To physically move the horse shafts from one end of the Tram to the other, very doubtful but it depends of the weight if the shafts. Without a track layout we’ll never know.
