Northumberland St early 1900s

Another lovely view in the well known Northumberland St which in those days was part of the A1 Road from London to Edinburgh.

I believe that they were Tram Inspectors. I actually think that I recall them regularly operating by the tram stop on Northumberland St..........but since I couldn't have been much more than 5/6 when the Tram service stopped please forgive me if I am wrong.

I think you are probably right, on looking again the uniforms don’t look like police uniforms, I guess those guys were monitoring the flow of traffic.
