Apart from the title Jarrow and Hebburn Knuts and that the men in the photo are wearing the hat badge of the Green Howards i haven't been able to find out anything about this photo. The letters that appear above the head of the man on left, H35 DCOY 10 YRKS, may have some relevance to the photo or may not.
There were a lot of old Army sites in the York area WW1. Some still in use today.
That photo maybe not in York itself as that barracks area quite flat as far as I remember.
I have photos taken if I remember at Full Sutton around 1908 ish on postcards sent by Grandad Campbell to my future Grandmother.
The started courting in about 1907 and married in 1911 and Grandad workmates presented him with a Cooper medal like a Victoria Cross, saying for 5 years long service type thing.
I had it out or its box last week a bit of Leslie’s history in my hands!
