HMS Spiteful

HMS Spiteful was launched from Palmer's Shipbuilding & Iron Co. Ltd., Jarrow on 11th January 1899. In 1904, as a trial, she was modified to burn oil fuel and was the first RN warship to be oil fired. 14th September 1920 she was sold for breaking up by Hayes at Porthcawl.

Don't know what the average life span is for a ship, 20 yrs, does not seem very long. Thanks for the picture.
