First e bike ride of the year
Posted by Allan Campbell on 20/2/2025, 7:27 pm
It was just warm enough to get out on the e bike. Wore suitable gear as wind still has a bit of a bit t it.
I only did 9 miles but it was enough. OK with a head or following wind but a cross wind, nasty almost caught out a few timed.
The shock was when I came to fill in my log book. I found that I had not been on the e bike for 5 months, surely not! But it’s correct according to my Strava App.
Have to check my none e bike log but I know that I used that up in Northumberland October/ November.
I expect a sore rear end tomorrow, you have to work it in!
I had just finished servicing the bike and fitted new SPD pedals which did not require any adjustment.
I have bought new SPD cycling shoes and cleats so have them to try out. I have now three pairs of cycling shoes but the oldest now past their best and just a standby pair.
Although I have a road/ gravel e bike I stick with MTB shoes and cleats. Road bike shoes and cleats extremely difficult to walk in. Reading an item a few weeks ago you can now buy a type of clip on sole for road shoes to enable walking, how do you carry them?
Have log books for all my bikes going way back, I also log every litre of diesel the I put in the car and have done that since January 1968. The early log books gone!
Allan, I agree with your last line, still up to the shoulders in snow drifts, snowed in for three days. Though today cold, sunny blue sky, only a couple of months to go. Roll on the spring.
