I thought I'd put this header on today because most visitors to the board will not have seen this pedestrians only bridge.
It works like your eyelid does when a ship needs to pass through.

Thank you Norman, what a beautiful bridge. Never saw it in daylight only night time. Marvelous engineering, must have been very expensive , are there that many pedestrians to justify the cost or is it also a tourist attraction ?

It is I think a cycle crossing and it allows people to get between the Sage, Baltic Mill and of course a Gateshead- Newcastle link.

Not been over it as yet.

Newcastle certainly has some iconic bridges, thanks for the photo.

I was engineering the Baltic conversion when the bridge was put in place. The engineering tolerances were unbelievable. One slight error would have meant curtains. Well done to builders, Wm Press.
