As usual Ive added locations to help you figure out where streets & housing was built in later years. Windermere Cres estate where we moved to in 1953 was built on that land between the Slag Heap & the first lake early 50s.
Looking at the two photos of Hebburn in 1937 this week I was struck by the fact that at the time these photos were taken the world was just two years away from the start of the most horrific war in history.
It gave me some comfort to think of the fact that the world got through that, at this time when the world once again seems to be in such turmoil with the situations in Ukraine and Gaza, and with America seemingly trying to dismantle itself and its relationships with its allies.
Hopefully we'll get through these trying times too!
