Nice clear picture of one of my weekend walks. Gotta love that pier. The ganty walkway was before my tme, often wandered what the remainig foundation was for. Thank you for posting.

Seems a strange place for a ferry landing, where did the ferry start from ? Thank you for the picture.

The ferry landing belonged to the Tyne General Ferry Co. and it ran from Elswick to Shields and made 26 stops along the way.

Didn't know that, thought the ferry was only a link to each river bank. Thank you.
