Can anyone recommend a good GO Surgery in Hebburn, currently with Victoria Medical Centre.

Thomas, I had heard that, just been into mine, took 3 calls to get an appointment on Friday when I wanted one yesterday, as usual not one person waiting in surgery, obviously run off their feet ha ha, absolutely atrocious service ! Anyone have experience of Ellison View ?

Here in Liverpool we have to fill a form in describing what's wrong then the receptionist hands it to a doctor. It appears the place is run by office workers who think they're doctors. Today I went through a 30 minute phone call to be told to see a physio. They just don't want to know. He hadn't even seen me. Then comes the notice that they won't tolerate abuse but they hand it out...

I am old enough to remember when, if you needed to see a Doctor, you visited the surgery, asked who you were after and seen when it was your turn, no receptionist. Also, if you were too poorly to visit the surgery Doctors actually did house calls, not now. No change for the better, just a very poor system where it is a chore to try to see a GP.

Other than order prescriptions, I’ve given up with our GPs. You have to listen to a long message, telling you the are not an emergency service, so if it’s urgent put down phone and ring 999. If not an emergency you eventually speak to a triage doctor who decides if you need a physio, nurse, paramedic, nurse practitioner or doctor. My friend rang 111 for me and they were excellent.

My late mum lived in Bill Quay until her demise in 2020, I have to say that the Pelaw Medical Centre were excellent, mum had home visits from doctors, she was always given a very prompt appointment, during the last few weeks before her death a doctor called at mum’s house every day to check up on her, the doctor told me exactly what to expect, I was even told when to expect mum’s death, the doctor was 24 hours out but what a service was that?
