The Tyne Bridge not yet carrying traffic

This is our famous Tyne Bridge probably days or weeks before it was officially opened by our King George 5th, on Oct 10th 1928.
It looked so good, Sydney in Australia wanted one aswell

Amazing that this photo is 97 years old.

Amazing photo Norman especially as it is quite old, just as a matter of interest when are the works to the Tyne Bridge due to be completed?

Mr.Dunn, Yes, we wanted a bridge like this in Sydney....and eventually got one about 8 years later.....but did you know that the Hells Gate Bridge in New York predated the Tyne Bridge and the Sydney Harbour Bridge by several years ??

Think the Sidney harbour bridge was started before the tyne bridge.

You're right Davy. Work started on S.H.Bridge on 28th July 1923 and was opened on 19th March 1932.
