Catherine Cookson being interviewed

As was mentioned recently, Catherine Cookson born McMullen was a world famous Author, born & brought up in our area many years ago but now almost forgotten.
Here is a 4 min clip of her being interviewed at the Quayside in Newcastle. I thought interviewer Marion Foster's first question was so silly

I agree Norman a really stupid question to an author who writes about Tyneside.

Catherine lived adjacent to the Bridge over the Tyne at Corbridge, but no idea how long she was there.
It was probably post 1960s
So unlike what was said , she didnt always live down South.
Why does our South Tyneside Local Authority not push the fact she lived here?
Little Haworth in Yorkshire push the Bronte Sister's books & it helps attract visitors to see where they lived.

There used to be a sign quite close to Hebburn Tech that said it was Catherine Cookson Country, don’t know if it is still there?

Norman, I know she lived in Hastings Sussex for many years, but then eventually moved back to the North when elderly. I wonder if she upset a local or county councillor, you know how “precious” some can be.

Catherine Cookson apparently donated Hugh sums of money to the hospital in Hexham which helped fund more building works.,

She also funded lots to the Freeman hospital.

She was indeed Carol. Sad that she is not recognised now with a plaque or something.
