My grandad was in the St Johns Ambulance brigade for a long time he would have been around 15 at the time. I can't be 100% sure but the man in 3rd row and 3 in looks very much like him.

Nice photo Peter. It was built in 1888 costing £5000 by Thomas Lumsden of Jarrow. He lived in Albert Rd Jarrow. Architect was 26yrs old Charles Walker of Newcastle. Its history is fantastic. The bell tower was never built due to costs! However, the presbytery has been extended since that photo.
