Guilty as Charged!!
I bought a hedge trimmer, after seeing an advert, one morning.
It's the one, the neighbour is up a ladder, trying to cut the top of a high, dividing hedge.
On the other side is the guy with the trimmer, long extended pole, and battery powered.
I have to say, it weighs a TON..OK for the tops, as it's almost vertical...but lower to a more horizontal position, it's almost impossible to hold, due to the weight.
And with over 200 yards of hedging to cut....I only use it for the tops (about seven feet high) and then use a smaller petrol driven one for the vertical faces.

Malcolm we bought the same cutter with battery etc have just put it on Gumtree for sale, exactly the same reasons you said. My husband just cant handle the weight even with the shoulder strap attached.
